Student-Directed Education Program
We support students in autonomously building an academic journey
that matches their personal aptitudes and interests.
Enriching the soil for future scholars to thrive
To fulfill our responsibility for protecting foundational
academic disciplines, we nurture the future generation of
scholarly excellence in basic academic fields such as the
humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
Graduate school education, linking theory and practice
Our Graduate School protects the essential value of learning
while creating practical knowledge that meets the needs of the
times. We are pioneering a path to contribute to the development
of the nation and humanity. We pursue in-depth academic research
by organically linking theory and practice to respond to complex
challenges including climate change, the 4th Industrial
Revolution, pandemics, and regional decline.
Integrated research platform (SPINE)
SPINE, SNU’s integrated research platform, operates in three stages:
strategic planning and project discovery (Strategy & Planning);
incubation (Incubation); and evolution into a research base facility
(Evolution) and securement of sustainability. We aim to gather
excellent research capabilities for activating integrated research
and make a leap forward as a world-class research-oriented
university.

Social contributions, the realization of coexistence and sharing
We practice social contribution activities based on our
expertise centered around the SNUSR. All members of the
university, including students, professors, staff and alumni,
participate in returning knowledge and experience to society.
The Global and Local SNUSR Corps actively contribute by sharing
education, technology and culture overseas, while addressing
local community issues.
Intercollegiate Initiative for Talent Development Program
We operate the Intercollegiate Initiative for Talent Development
Program to overcome regional gaps and to enhance the
competitiveness of local universities. We provide education,
employment and entrepreneurship programs specialized for the
region, with the aim of actively sharing resources with local
universities and supporting the settlement of talents in the
regions.
Knowledge sharing, an open academic forum for all
We actively share our accumulated knowledge resources with
society, such as through social contribution programs for the
educationally disadvantaged and campus sharing programs with
local communities. In addition, we are working to eliminate gaps
in educational opportunities through various online knowledge
sharing programs, such as the SNU YouTube channel <SNU
Catch> and free K-MOOC lectures.

Startup support programs
To cultivate innovative thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit, we
offer programs through the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
that systematically support the entire process of startups. Our goal
is to create a local startup ecosystem and help students grow into
globally competitive entrepreneurs. We provide an environment where
students can boldly pursue their ambitious dreams.

International scholarship program
We operate an international scholarship program for faculty without
a doctorate degree to foster the next generation of leaders in
developing countries. The influence of this program has been
strengthened by gradually expanding the number of selected students,
the diversity of majors, and the range of regions. We promote
academic exchange through a close-knit graduate network, building
strong ties with major universities in developing countries and
expanding our global impact.
Exchange student program
Selected students study as regular students for one or two
semesters at approximately 260 partner institutions. Every year,
about 600 students gain experience abroad, while approximately
1,000 foreign university students study and build connections at
our university.
Inbound program
About 700 students worldwide participate in this international
summer course, with lectures in English by professors from SNU
and overseas. Students can immerse themselves in various
academic fields, cultural experiences and courses on Korea and
East Asia.
Outbound program
This international residency education program combines domestic
pre-lectures with field trips to major overseas institutions. It
helps students strengthen global capabilities by exploring in
depth various aspects of world society.
Outbound program
This scholarship program supports participation in seasonal
semesters or special programs at world-class universities during
seasonal breaks. The program supports self-planned overseas
training either individually or in groups.
