주요 연구분야

이근 교수는 경제발전론, 경제체제론을 기반으로 하여 ‘경제추격론’(economics of catch-up) 이라는 자신만의 연구주제를 일관되게 천착해온 학자로 후발국의 경제성장을 기업차원, 산업차원, 국가차원이라는 세 차원에서 실증, 이론적 연구를 해오는 가운데, 국내외 유수 학술지 및 저서로 많은 연구업적을 내었다. 이 주제를 단지 한국내에서 연구하는데 그치지 않고, 콜럼비아 대학의 Richard Nelson 교수와 함께 국제적인 추격연구그룹(catch-up project)의 주 멤버로 참여하고 있다.
